An animal reserve in the heart of the Parco di Porto Conte

Monte Timidone, located within the state forest ‘Prigionette’, is also known as "Noah's Ark" – for the animals transplanted there decades ago.


The walk to the top is a bit hard but rewarded with breathtaking views from the top:  the bay of Porto Conte, the Marine Protected Area ‘Capo Caccia-Isola Piana’, the northwest coast, and Porticciolo and Porto Ferro .
Along the way one can find white donkeys, horses, deer, turtles and maybe spot some Griffon vultures.

Another interesting stop is the beautiful Cala della Barca, between Monte Pegna and Punta Cristallo, a nesting area for griffon vulture.
