Alghero: a trip to Lake Baratz and Porto Ferro.

The trip is very easy with the only tiring part being the walk amongst the sand dunes at Porto Ferro, the only high part of the trip. On this Forest route, with a bit of luck, you might see different species of tortoises. Then we head for Lago di Baratz (the only natural lake in Sardinia) where we walk round part of its perimeter. Again, with a bit of luck, here in late spring you might see tortoises during the egg laying season and for a large part of the year different species of aquatic birds including herons. The break for a packed lunch will be either near the lake or on one of the small beaches at nearby Porto Ferro where in good weather we can stop and have a swim. We come back in the afternoon.
