Gallura: trip from Vallicciola to "Madonna della Neve".

An easy tour (E) along a Forest track going from the Valicciola barracks to the little church of the Madonna della Neve. We do a round trip east, with panoramic sites facing Lake Coghinas and the Costa Smeralda until we get to the Madonna della Neve. Here we have a break in a fully equipped pic-nic area opposite the little church. From the statue of Madonna della Neve near the little church you can see the whole of north Sardinia, from the Maddalena archipelago to Asinara and Corsica . After lunch we stock up on fresh spring water and carry the tour on to the west. The landscape is typically “ gallurese ” , pine forests, granite and in winter the whole route is often covered in a light blanket of snow.

Actual walking time: 4 hours.

Grade: moderate (the only possible difficulty will be in winter when there may be snow, cloud and mist).
