Alghero: a trip from Capo Caccia to Torre della Pegna
A seemingly easy trip because of the shortness of the route, an actual walk of only three and a half hours, but which is actually quite tiring because of the lack of a proper path. From high up on Monte Pegna, a sheer headland jutting out of the sea and with a tower bearing the same name, you can enjoy a breathtaking view: Capo Caccia, the bay of Porto Conte, the Prigionette forest, Monte Timidone and Punta Cristallo. It is sometimes possible to encounter deer originating from the nearby nature reserve or catch sight of some Griffin vultures. On the return journey we can stop for a swim in the nearby Cala Dragunara.
We can sleep in sleeping-bag as we can sleep in 4-star hotel !
Altitude: 271 metres
Ascent : approximate 200 metres
Actual walking time : 3½ hours
Grade: moderate
In the photo: Torre della Pegna, and Punta Cristallo back the tower.
